EXPERIENCE
August 2000 to Present Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District PROGRAMMER Developed the latter phases of the intranet for the Carrollton-Farmers Branch
Independent School District. Wrote a self-designing survey program in
JavaScript and VBScript on an NT-based server utilizing Object-Oriented coding. Configured IIS 4.0 and
installed the Microsoft Collaboration Data Object to allow the Director to
bring up Exchange Server address lists in choosing whom to send the surveys
to. Utilized Dynamic HTML to present a dynamic form for the Director to
use when designing each survey. Implemented logic to automatically design
VBScript modules and Access databases to independently track
e-mail responses for up to 60 different surveys. May 1999 to August 2000 Criterion, Incorporated CONSULTANT, CLIENT SUPPORT Troubleshot problems with human resources software and
databases; Provided customer support in English and in Spanish; Authored an issues and
solutions web page to support the software. Utilized FTP server services on one
of the
company's servers to capture entire databases from clients for further analysis.
Wrote SQL scripts in Oracle, SQL Server and SQL Anywhere environments to reorganize, and
produce lists from, the downloaded databases. Utilized HTML and tools like Microsoft
FrontPage to produce solutions web pages for internal use via Active Server Pages, and
also for a large collection of individual pages for external use via Microsoft Index
Server. Training during this period included that for basic SQL language and for Microsoft
SQL Server 7.0. CompConTech: Dallas TECHNICAL SUPPORT ENGINEER (February 1999 to April 1999) Provided technical support over the telephone for Microsoft FrontPage 98. Supported
Personal Web Server, and reseached problems with Internet Information Server. Troubleshot
problems related to the interface to Internet servers and related to FrontPage extensions.
Debugged and wrote HTML and Java code. Trained extensively for FrontPage, Networking
Essentials and Windows 98. Authored a 15-page white paper on resolving problems with
FrontPage after installation of a cable modem. March 1996 to January 1999 Compaq Computer Corp. TECHNICAL SUPPORT ENGINEER Provide technical support over the phone for MS FrontPage
98. Supported Personal Web Servers and researched problems with Internet Information
Server (IIS). Troubleshoot problems related to the interface to Internet Server and
related to MS FrontPage 98 extension. Debugged and wrote HTML and JAVA code. Trained
extensivley for MS FrontPage, Networking Essentials and Windows 98. Serviced major accounts that had special technical and
customer service related problems that could not be resolved over the phone. Took
assignments from account managers to go in person on site to address problems with Compaq
desktops, laptops and ProLiant servers. Analyzed and troubleshot problems and used a wide
variety of solutions tools to find solutions (including MS Technet). Interacted with a
group of engineers "Case Management" for each product line to discuss known
issues on phone and in person. Served as liaison with the account managers and with Case
Management engineering. Used MS SMS software and Compaq SmartStart and Diagnostic Array
utilities to troubleshoot problems on hard drive arrays and on servers. Worked with
network administrators on site to discuss certain details of network planning. Resolved
various issues with Compaqs DLT Library (digital tape library). Deal directly with customers to work out both customer
service and technical solutions. Analyzed problems over the telephone and set up repair
dispatches. Negotiated with customers via presentation of alternatives and offering of
free software and free hardware upgrades. Utilized a wide variety of solution-finding
tools, which included MS Technet and internal/external internet web sites. Software

Troubleshot problems with entire line of Compaq laptop computers. Worked with customers to
help configure a wide variety of PC cards, including modem cards and network interface
cards. Experience included some networking support related to configuring the laptop to
interface with Novell and NT servers via Ethernet and Token Ring cards. 1994 to 1996 Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission TECHNICAL SUPPORT ENGINEER Setup , install and maintain Windows environment for
collection of continuous ambient organic air pollutant data at sites near the Houston Ship
Channel. Software included MS Excel, custom chromatography software for communication
between components of a gas chromatogram, MS PcAnywhere communications software, PcTools,
Conner Backup Basics backup tape drive software, MS Write, and other Windows-related
applications. Remote access to this system was performed on a Satellite 1960 CT laptop
computer via MS PcAnywhere software. Setting up, configuring and maintaining this
combination of software. Troubleshooting communications problems with MS PcAnywhere.
Performing on-the-job training for co-workers not accustomed to the Windows environment.
Perform regular tape cartridge backups. Implement software upgrades. Optimize hard disk
space with MS DOS Defrag, Scandisk, and other hard disk management utilities. Communicate
with the Austin agency headquarters about their network system. 1987 to 1996 Consultant Assisted an architectural firm with setting up their CAD
software and with installing a new hard disk and parallel/serial board in their two
computers. Also assisted a legal firm with troubleshooting hardware problems on their
computer. Have performed similar work for various small business. 1989 to 1994 City of Houston Bureau of Air Quality Control TECHNICAL SUPPORT Set up HP scanner equipment and helped various individuals
with software. Analyzed ambient air pollution data. Prepared ambient air pollution
reports. Worked in ambient air sampling section. Calibrated ozone, sulfur dioxide, carbon
monoxide and nitrogen oxide analyzers. Assisted with specifications on new data
acquisition system for ambient monitoring. 1988 to 1989 Radio Shack (Houston) TECHNICAL SUPPORT Helped customers solve software problems over the telephone
and in person. Taught customer classes in MS DOS and in word processing, spreadsheet and
database software. 1986 to 1988 Consultant For Sir Routing International; designed, developed,
installed, and maintained a database interface software using C and Foxbase programming

installed, and maintained software on a PC. Updated databases in Destanate. Performed

maintained a Data Management application using Basic for the Disaster Assistance Team. 1982 to 1987 Tandy Corporation SOFTWARE ENGINEER Wrote utilities and hardware device drivers using Assembly
for distribution on MS DOS diskettes on the Tandy IBM PC compatible computers. Debugged
